Pet hates - aka a good rant

Having pondered and then completely forgotten about the blog and what gets me hot under the collar, here I am again. Now that I am sat down, with a coffee and a million miles away from daily stresses and strains, most of my rants are really not that bad. Still, I'm here now and so at the risk of offending my 3 readers I'll list a few.

In no particular order -

- me starting a new project before finishing the last ones (yes, plural). Self inflicted I know...

- flashing on miniatures and the resultant filling required to make them ready for painting. I'd rather pay more for really nicely clean figures straight out of the box

- undercoating figures. Takes longer than you think and involves get your hands covered in paint normally...and the kitchen table

- painting figures. I actually quite like this but I'm not that good at it, worry about perfection (that is impossible anyway) and I faff.

- basing figures. I mean...having to choose which figures go where and then the basing material etc. I need a set of instructions and pictures every single time. Tell me how to do it!

- choosing an army for a competition. Round and round the garden like a silly twat. I cant settle on a good army and invariably take one that's a bit shit

- completely forgetting the rules for the competition I am taking part in. All the time and ending up looking like a numpty plus the worrying thought that perhaps I have dementia...

Win at all costs opponents. I quite like to win and in the same vein don't mind losing. It's the game and the narrative thats important not the end result. BUT...opponents who micro measure stuff to the mm and rub your nose in it. You know the ones. When they are about to deliver the coup de grace, they are fairly simmering on their seat in anticipation.

Plucking up courage to meet up with people to game with. Ok, thats more an observation but I am mad with myself for being such a wuss

Other people's miniatures being sooooo much better than mine. Actually, this is a lie. I am inspired by other people's painting and modelling skills. I just get frustrated with myself for not being better...

Not being organised.

Not being organised

Wasting time not being organised

Overly complicated rules. Or maybe poorly written ones. Or both. Or maybe it's me...

That there aren't more bricks and mortar shops these days (wishlist)

That it isnt the 1980s anymore (genuinely)

It's a rambling mess of a post that actually points the finger at me mostly. Perhaps I should consign myself to room 101. If I can work out how to open the door that is
